Hey there and welcome to the first ever PupsterPassion.co.uk, blog post! Whoop whoop!
For our very first blog post we really wanted to start off with something really positive. All about celebrating the beneficial nature of the bond between humans and dogs.
So we decided to write a list of reasons why owning a dog is really good for you. For already passionate dog lovers this article will most probably preaching to the choir. For others who may be sitting on the fence we hope this post may nudge them in the general direction of owning their first dog and reaping all the rewards.
So here is the list in a nutshell:
- Lots of Exercise
- Lots of Love
- Meeting New People
- Purpose and Meaning
- Stress Reduction
Now lets look at it in much more detail:
Lots of Exercise
This is one of the biggest and most obvious benefits of owning a dog (or two). Most dogs need a couple of good walks every single day to keep them happy and healthy.
So this gives their owners a good reason to get up off the sofa and do some walking. Walking is a very safe way of getting healthy and even losing some weight.
So not only does it keep the dogs healthy but it is also great for the owners as well!
Lots of Love
Providing they are bought up correctly as puppies, dogs will show total and unconditional love to their owners. It does not matter how old you are, what you look like, which god you pray to, or what political party you support.
Dogs do not judge us like our fellow humans often do. They just love us with all their hearts. As humans this love makes us feel better about ourselves and life in general. Dogs really are amazing.
Just look at all the love in this video:
Meeting New People
Owning a dog is a really great way to meet new people. Every time you go out for a walk you are much more likely to get chatting to some one new if you take your pooch with you.
Who knows for our single readers, you might even meet they love of your life!
Purpose and Meaning
One of the things humans need to thrive is a sense of purpose and meaning. People can get this from lots of different places. Work, hobbies, creativity, family, children are all great examples.
Dogs are another great way of creating a deeper more meaningful life. Having to care for a dog, taking on that responsibility and then receiving love in return. This can be a really powerful combination. Adding a huge amount of value to both human and canine.
As we know from the amazing work done by anxiety dogs. Dogs are really great for reducing stress and anxious feelings.
Of course most of us do not suffer from serious anxiety, but we all get stressed out from time to time! Having a dog to help us through this can be a wonderful thing.
